In January 2021, I changed jobs.

Well, kind of. I’m still a doctor. But now I write, too.

Seeing that I'm American, my take on things is, um, very American.

Thankfully, I don’t bore you with dissertations. The point is to use blog posts, top 10 lists, unorthodox poems, and microfiction (whatever that means) to look at the US, and the world according to the US, in unconventional and amusing ways.

What gives me the right to do this?
The internet, of course.

After training in internal medicine at Cornell and nephrology at Yale, I practiced medicine full time in Rochester, New York, for 11 years. Then I discovered my true passion—now I work part time and call myself a writer.

The goal is to learn by connecting dots that aren't normally connected.

As the picture indicates, you don’t want me delving into fashion trends. But you will find that blending music, sports, history, science, medicine, language, tech, finance, and geography is a great way to process the country.

Because you’re busy, I try to stick to stuff that’s relevant to modern life.

That said, some of the best learning comes off the beaten path, so I take you there as well. While every piece is designed to be read in isolation, if you stick it out, you might start to see the US with refreshing clarity. Or you might just laugh.

Have you ever wondered how a site like this makes any money? Same here! Here’s a quick breakdown:
The majority of the content is free, because I couldn’t run a site like this without free knowledge.
The content from this site is syndicated on Medium, where I get paid by the read.
I try to sell my own books, which I think are really good. You may or may not agree.
I live off my wife.
That was a joke.
